National Teacher Day is observed on the First Tuesday in May every year for honoring teachers and recognizing their contributions in everyone’s lives.  It is the time to celebrate our nation’s teachers -even as they work with students from a distance in the event of the pandemic.

History

In 1953, Eleanor Roosevelt persuaded the 81st Congress to proclaim National Teachers’ Day and it was first observed in the year 1980. Originally it was observed in the first Tuesday of March every year, which was later changed to the month of May.

Teacher’s Day can be observed by everyone including individuals, business organizations and entrepreneurs and not just by schools and colleges.
