- 1 out of 5 Americans will develop skin cancer in a lifetime
- Melanoma Research Foundation report say that every hour of every day, 1 American dies from melanoma, which is 10,000 people per year.
- Over the past 30 years, people have had more skin cancers than all other cancers combined
- Around half of all Americans who reach age 65 will have a non-melanoma skin cancer at least once.
Safety tips
- Nearly 90% of melanomas are thought to be caused by sun’s UV light. Applying sunscreen with SPF factor 30 and above is the best way to stay safe
- Avoid tanning beds and sunlamps, as these shine direct ultraviolet radiation at your skin.
