Online marketplaces are likely to grow faster during the 2022 Christmas shopping season. 80 % of consumers are likely to shop online this year, to get the best deals and avoid the holiday crowd.
Holiday Purchases Will start Early
Shoppers are more likely to start their shopping as early as in October.
59% of Christmas shoppers think they’ll spend over $200 over gifts.
Buying a gift for your loved is likely to be more expensive in December than in October. So most people may start shopping quite early, expecting that the annualized prices are rising between 6% and 8% per month. Some shoppers may start Christmas shopping as early as June even.
Secondly, the popular shopping days such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday are likely to generate a far less share of total holiday retail sales in 2022
Mobile Commerce Will Grow by 20%
Reports show that shopping apps installation grew by 77% to reach 2.3 million so far in 2022.
So, more holiday shoppers will be shopping on their mobile devices this year. Total U.S. ecommerce sales from mobile devices is expected to hit $115 billion, which is 20% more than in 2021
